11Jun07

From Core 77.com Blog — Roland Kaufmann’s goal for his graduate ID thesis project at the University of Applied Sciences, Joanneum in Graz, Austria was to develop a hybrid bicycle using wood as a main material–unexpected but sensible since wood is lightweight and incredibly strong, used for many kayaks and sailboats. Under the guidance of his supporting tutor Christoph Pauschitz, Kaufmann concepted the JANO Dual Bike–and what’s
even more impressive is his thorough documentation of the project on the JANO site…and if you’re bored and can read German, download the 138-page thesis (pdf).
